Photography was born in the 19th century in the light of modern thinking. The daguerreotype, also known as a mirror with a memory, was an image linked to reality and magic. In the 21st century, all photographic images lack of materiality and they live in a sea of information that forces them to fall into oblivion.

This project called 21st century consists of the appropriation of the images created during this period to subsequently transfer them into the silver salts of the daguerreotype. The purpose is to develop a latent reality, to fix an image in motion, to encapsulate time, and to relativize our understanding of the photographic image and reality.

A photograph is a fickle image, a document that can be submitted to a new configuration, which format, materiality, distribution, and interpretation can be changed. The project is intended to show how a photograph is a construction which achieves a meaning in the context of the historical progress.

Every daguerreotype is the foundation upon which a picture of the human race of the 21st century is being build, a fragmented picture taking shape from hidden images. A mirror that reflects the frailty of human beings, images, time, history, and our memory.
