A lapse is an Interval of time. Time passes and shows itself before our eyes through space. When space is turned into an image, it crystallizes into a field of possibilities which allow everything to become present again and to spin in eternal repetition.
Lapses is a piece which explores the relationship between space, time, History and representation, with the ultimate goal of inquiring about the particular configuration of the Mexican national character, through the convergence of space and time.
By means of the juxtaposition of the static image with the moving one, a static, intermittent past can relate to a continuous, moving present. It combines their sounds and trajectories and makes the appearance of the city its own, as if it were a suspended symbology, contrasting the construction of our imagery as a nation against the latent reality.
